PEARL MILLET CURD RICE

This curd rice recipe is so so good, you’ll end up replacing your normal curd rice for this extraordinarily healthy curd rice. Dahi chawal is like a staple in Indian cuisine! PEARL MILLET CURD RICE Recipe|Renu dalal

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ Cup Whole Pearl Millet (Bajra)
  • 1 Cup Boiled Rice
  • 1 ½ Cup Curd
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp sugar

Tempering

  • 1 tsp oil
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • ¼ tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp urad dal
  • 1 kashmiri dry red chilly (cut in half)
  • 1 tsp grated peanuts
  • 7-8 curry leaves
  • ¼ tsp hing

METHOD

For bajra

  1. Pressure cook soaked bajra millet for 4-5 whistles.

For the tempering

  1. Heat oil in a small vessel and saute everything together until it starts crackling.

How to proceed

  1. In a bowl, with the help of a wire whisk best the curd until no lumps.
  2. Add in cooked bajra, boiled rice, salt and sugar.
  3. Mix well and add in hot tempering and mix well.
  4. Serve cold.
