YELLOW MOONG DAL

Moong Dal recipe is a delicious, healthy and protein rich dish made from yellow moong lentils. This recipe includes lightly sautéing aromatics before mixing with the cooked yellow moong lentils. YELLOW MOONG DAL Recipe|Renu dalal

INGREDIENTS

For the dal

  • 1/2 cup yellow moong dal (soak for 30 minutes)
  • 2 Cups Water

Other ingredients

  • ¼ cup onions chopped
  • ¼ cup tomatoes chopped
  • 3-4 curry leaves
  • A Pinch of hing
  • ¼ tsp mustard seeds
  • ¼ tsp cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp ginger green chilly garlic paste
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ¼ tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp oil
  • ¼ tsp Red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves

METHOD

For the dal

  1. Soak the dal for 30 minutes.
  2. Strain and pressure cook the soaked moong Dal for 2 whistles with 2 cups of water.
  3. Once done, with the help of a hand mixer, coarsely blend the dal.

How to proceed

  1. In a pan heat oil, add in cumin seeds, mustard seeds, hing, curry leaves and ginger green chilli garlic paste.
  2. Sauté chopped onions and tomatoes in it.
  3. Add in turmeric powder, red chilli powder, lemon juice, salt and mix well.
  4. Add in the dal, cook for a minute and add coriander.
  5. Serve hot with roti or rice.
