GULAB JAMUN

who doesn’t love gulaab jamun, everyone does! It’s one of India’s best sweets and most loved by all! Super easy to make and so very delicious! This recipes gives the best melt in mouth gulab Jamuns and you have to try them. You can flavour the sugar syrup as per your choice, can even add 1/2 tbsp of Rose water for that added rose flavour. Don’t forget to read the directions carefully and make it! Making gulab jamuns are tricky but the results are worth it! Do try it and make for your family!

INGREDIENTS

For the Gulab Jamuns

  • ½ Cup Maida
  • 2 tsp Powdered Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Milk powder
  • Pinch of Cardamom powder
  • 1 Cup Khoya
  • Ghee For frying

For the Sugar Syrup

  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 ½ Cup Water
  • 6-8 strands of saffron
  • 3 cardamom pods

METHOD

For the Sugar Syrup

  • In a pan, mix everything together and let it boil.

  • Boil it becomes semi thick and let it sit.

  • The syrup has to remain warm.

For the Gulab Jamun

  1. In a plate, mix all the ingredients together and knead the dough for around 5-7 minutes.
  2. Softly keep kneading until everything comes together to form a soft crack free dough.
  3. Cover with a damp muslin cloth and rest the dough for 10 minutes.
  4. Divide the dough into 10 pieces and make rounds of them. Keep the balls covered with muslin cloth to avoid cracks and dryness to the dough.
  5. Heat ghee for frying the jamuns.
  6. With the help of a spoon, keep stirring the hot ghee while adding the Jamuns in it. Stirring is important so the jamuns, fry evenly from all sides.
  7. Once golden brown, remove the Jamuns and instantly add them in the warm sugar syrup.
  8. Let them sit for 2-3 hours in the syrup.
  9. Store in the refrigerator and serve when needed.
