Maa ki dal

Ingredients

To put in a pressure cooker

 

  • 2 ½ cups soaked black urad dal (soak 1 cup black urad dal for 8 hours)
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • ½ cup chopped tomato
  • 3 cloves crushed garlic
  • 3 cups water

 

Other Ingredients

 

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 pieces taj (cinnamon stick)
  • 2 pieces tej patha (bay leaf)
  • Salt to taste

Method

  1. In a pressure cooker cook the urad Dalal with onion, tomato, garlic and water. Once it is cooked well, mash a little with a whisk.
  2. In a vessel heat the butter, add the taj, tej patta and saute for half a minute.
  3. Add the mashed urad dal, salt to taste. Add more water if required and cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Serve hot with vegetables and naan.
