Chef's Note from Renu Dalal:

Fruit custard is one of those desserts that everyone in the family loves, from children to grandparents. I like to make the custard fresh with good quality custard powder or even homemade custard, let it cool completely before adding the fruits so they stay fresh and the custard does not turn watery. The choice of fruits matters — I use a mix of bananas, grapes, pomegranate, apples and seasonal fruits depending on what is available. Always chill for at least an hour before serving. The cold, creamy custard with juicy fruit pieces is what makes this a timeless favourite.
Add the fruits just before serving to keep them fresh and colourful.
