Masoor Dal Chilla | Red Lentil Chilla | Protein Rich Breakfast | Healthy Indian Pancake — recipe by Renu Dalal

INGREDIENTS

    • 1/2 Cup soaked Masoor Dal
    • 1/2 tbsp ginger green chilli paste
    • Pinch of red chilli powder
    • Pinch turmeric
    • Salt to taste
    • ½ cup water

    To add later -

    • 1 tbsp finely chopped onions
    • 1 tbsp finely chopped carrots
    • 1 tbsp finely chopped capsicum
    • 1 tbsp chopped coriander

METHOD

    1. In a blender jar, add in all the ingredients.
    2. Blend well to make a smooth batter.
    3. Transfer to a bowl and mix in all the vegetables and coriander.
    4. Rest the batter for 30 minutes.
    5. Heat a pan and make round chillas with oil.
    6. Cook on both the sides and serve hot.

Chef's Note from Renu Dalal:

Allow the batter to rest for 10–15 minutes before cooking to improve texture and help the flavours develop.
